BRIGADIER HH BHUPESH SINGH, SC, VSM: WARRIOR EXTRAORDINAIRE
1. Brigadier Bhupesh Singh, SC, VSM was born at Boondi, Rajasthan in year 1970 and belongs to Maalik Pura & Chautron Ka Kheda Jaagir. His father Maharaja Vijayraj Singh is an educationist and a social worker of repute. Brig Bhupesh is married to Mrs Padmaja Rathore of Jasol, Barmer, Rajasthan. They have a son Raghav Hada.
2. Brig Bhupesh did his schooling at the Sainik School, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan and after training at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune and Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, he got commissioned into the Madras Regiment in 1991. After three years of service with the Standard Infantry Battalion, he volunteered for services with the Special Forces and got selected to be part of the famed 10 Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) or ’10 Para commando’. The Unit is popularly called ‘Scorpions’. He has also served for a year with a mechanised infantry battalion and commanded a nonpareil Special Frontier Force Battalion. He has served in various Headquarters and Schools of Instruction and was also Raising Deputy Commander of an Independent Infantry Brigade deployed at Northern Borders.
3. During his 33 years of exemplary service he has served in numerous locations throughout the country. He has participated in operations ‘Orchid’, ‘Rhino’, ‘Rakshak’, ‘Kargil–Vijay’, ‘Prakram’ ‘Falcon’ and ‘Meghdoot’ with distinction. He was also selected for United Nations assignment where he served as a ‘Senior Sector Military Observer’ in UN Mission in Ethiopia – Eritrea (Africa).
4. He has trained and operated extensively with the Nation’s Air Force, Navy, CAPF and with the major Special Forces of foreign countries.
5. For his gallantry and outstanding services he has received the following awards :–
(a) Shaurya Chakra – Awarded in 1999 for anti terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
(b) Vishist Seva Medal – Awarded in 2019 for commendable work done in Siachen Glacier.
(c) Prakram Medal – Awarded on being wounded during a mission against the enemy.
(d) Army Chief’s Commendation Badge – Awarded twice, once in 1997 for anti terrorist operations in J&K and for the second time in 2013 for exceptional adventure activities.
(e) Army Commander’s Commendation Badge – Awarded in 1993 for anti terrorist operations in North East region.
(f) Director General NSG’s Commendation Badge – Awarded in 2021 as Counter Terrorist Force Commander of the NSG.
(g) UN Force Commander’s Appreciation Card – Awarded in 2003 for distinguished services in peacekeeping mission in Ethiopia – Eritrea (Africa).
6. He successful commanded the challenging Siachen Brigade in ‘Operation Meghdoot’, was Force Commander of the National Security Guards (NSG), also known as ‘Black Cats’, and also trained our ‘Mountain Warriors’ as Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor at the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS).
7. Brigadier Bhupesh was instrumental in conceptualizing, planning and execution of an outstanding and audacious mountaineering expedition to the Twin Peaks of Mount Everest (8848 Mtr) and Mount Lhotse (8516 Mtr) and participated in Everest Marathon in 2012. A natural motivator, he led from the front, defying his age, and setting an example for all, by summiting Mount Everest. An adventure enthusiast, he is a diehard Paratrooper, Ultra-Marathoner, Para-glider Pilot, Biker and Combat Underwater Diver.
8. On 12 Dec 2021 he was installed as the Titular King of Boondi, Rajasthan, a title formerly known as ‘Maharao Raja’. The Presidential recognition of Royal Titles was discontinued after the 26th Constitutional Amendment. Customarily, socially and ceremonially Boondi King is the Head of the Kshatriya Community of the region. Boondi was a Princely State founded and ruled by Hada (Chauhans) Rajvansh since the year 1241 CE and was the Capital of the ‘Hadauti’ region. Boondi rulers are descendants of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Boondi throne is the senior most ‘Gaddi’ of Chauhans and has remained intact and unbroken for Eight Centuries courtesy these valorous Chauhan Rajpoots. Brig Bhupesh is the Chairman and hereditary trustee of ‘Hadauti Foundation’ which manages all the royal heritage of Boondi.
